H-E-B’s Scott McClelland Keynote Speaker at Connect!
The Get Together is pleased to announce that Scott McClelland, President of H-E-B’s Houston division, will be the Keynote Speaker at Connect: A Fundraising Breakfast for The Get Together on May 15 at the Junior League.
Scott McClelland is the President of H-E-B’s Houston Division. Founded in 1905 in Kerrville, Texas, H-E-B is the 11th largest grocery chain in the United States with more than 76,000 employees and 345 stores in Texas and Northern Mexico.
Scott is responsible for H-E-B’s operations in Houston, East Texas and at Mi Tienda-H-E-B’s Latino focused format. H-E-B entered the Houston market in the early ‘90’s with small format Pantry stores. Under Scott’s direction, H-E-B has repositioned to larger Food/Drug combination stores with a focus on perishables, innovative products and low prices. H-E-B’s now owns a 22% market share.
Scott joined H-E-B in 1990 after a 10 year career at Frito Lay. He served in a number of Marketing and Operations positions before being named Chief Marketing Officer in 2000. In 2003 he moved to Houston and became the Division President.
Scott is a board member of the Greater Houston Partnership as well as the Center for Houston’s Future. He is the former board chair of the Houston Food Bank and headed the $56mm capital campaign to fund the construction of the largest food bank warehouse in the United States. Scott spearheaded Houston’s Super Bowl Food Drive, which is now the largest in the state and annually collects 3 million pounds of food for Houston’s hungry.
